Bilihin Tumaas

Condom, Pills and Manila City

From stable status daw ngayon negative na. Kaya according to them, the best solution daw, Gloria must resign. Ohhh! Ganoon! And as proof, our economy was on the stable status na.

Hindi a! Gamit

My Home Town

The Manila Bulletin Online has this report: The seizure came after a 30-minute fierce gun battle with surprised and outgunned communist dissidents in the Mt. Diwata ranges in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, Maj. Alexis Noel C. Bravo, regional Army spokesman, said. ( source ) For the first time since I went here in Metro Manila, my home town has been featured in the news media just like this. San Agustin, Surigao Sur was the place where my family resided for so long. I was born in that place and lived for about 16 years. I witnessed wars between the government troops and the Communist rebels led by a former Catholic Priest Rev. Navarro who was once the teacher of my big brother in high school and also the one who baptised me in the Catholic. On this place where I witnessed how the goons pointed a 45 pistol on my mother's back while robbing the ballot and ballot boxes during the Yes or No election. On this place where rebels went inside our house looking for the army men living with us

27 Dead in Bus Accident

The death toll on the Accident happened yesterday, May 11, 2005 in Benguet was raised to 27. Let me say this way. Accident can actually be avoided. Iisa lang po ang dapat gawin, act as a disciplined one. Disiplina lang po ang kailangan. But how?

On Pacquiao vs Morales bout

It might be a bad luck to all gamblers who bid for Manny, and might hurt every Filipino who expected him to win. But there's nothing to worry regarding the lose of Manny on this big event at Las Vegas, Nevada. It only proves that Morales was really prepared to face the Filipino idol in the world of Boxing, and that Pacquiao needs more training and preparation to face his opponent whoever he might be, especially now that he is fighting for the vacant Super-Featherweight title.

On the jail break

As of the writing of this post, police killed at least 22 detainees already when they stormed a maximum-security jail, firing tear gas and bullets to retake the facility from Muslim militants who stole weapons from guards during a botched breakout. Sometimes, it is surprising to know that a detainee had stolen arms from the guard. Thus, it means guards carelessly had done their duties? Among the detainees killed are three Abu Sayyaf leaders: Alhamzer Manatad Limbong who is known as Kosovo, Ghalib Andang as Commander Robot, Nadsmieh Sabtulah as Commander Global.

Valentine Bombing

Three bombing incidents as Filipinos celebrate Valentine's day. The second bomb went off almost simultaneously in Ecoland Bus Terminal in Davao City wherein five people were injured. And the third bomb killed 3 people on the spot and at least 74 people others injured at around 7:50PM in Makati City. Kissing Festival

Did you know that Kissing festival started here in our country and last years Valentine's day broke the Chile's record in Guinness World Record Book. Here's the News from AP: More than 5,300 couples kissed for at least 10 seconds last Valentine's Day in Manila for an event dubbed "Lovapalooza," breaking Chile's record of 4,445 in the Guinness World Records book. This year's "Lovapalooza 2" will commemorate the feat with "a million kisses, a million heartbeats, and probably a million people falling in love for the second time around," said a statement from toothpaste maker Unilever Philippines, one of the event's organizers. The kissing festival was being held simultaneously at midnight (11 a.m. EST) in at least four cities nationwide. Live bands, couples and other promenaders began the all-night party at Manila's brightly lit Bay Walk along Roxas Boulevard - a long stretch of which was closed to vehicles, snarling traffic.

Eathquake hit Southern Philippines

A 6.9 earthquake hit the southern Mindanao late Saturday, February 5, 2005. News excerpt from the INQ7 : An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale was recorded late Saturday with its epicenter in the sea south of Mindanao island, about 500 kilometers from Dent Haven near Lahad Datu on Sabah's east coast. The Prime Minister's Crisis and Disaster Center issued Malaysia's first tsunami alert after the meteorological department told it about the Philippine earthquake. Center director Muhamad Muda said parts of Sabah, especially the state capital Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and several coastal areas, felt the tremor.... Police urged locals in some areas to evacuate coastal homes. Several seaside resorts on Sabah's west coast immediately alerted their guests. News organizations in Sabah were flooded with calls ,while people in Tuaran near Kota Kinabalu were caught in traffic jams as they fled towards Mount Kinabalu. Police were seen in many places calming the

Filipino in Korea

When I read a news by the Korea Herald on the warning of the Philippine government to Filipinos who would travel to Korea, I immediately remembered the times when I was in the process of indoctrination to the church known as the Unification Church founded and headed by Sun Myong Moon who was believed to be the reincarnation of Christ. The Philippines government yesterday issued an urgent warning to Filipino women against travel to Korea on entertainment visas or for arranged marriages. ( Korea Herald ) On August 1995, I joined the WON WA DO, a martial arts club which was teaching martial arts lesson for free. After attending martial arts classes for almost 1 month, we are told by our instructor that we would not be promoted to yellow belt (from white belt) if we wouldn't attend a lecture. I thought the lecture they're saying was about martial arts, but it was not. Since during the first day of our lecture, we were taught about the creation of the world by God, the birth of C

On Condom Issue

I don't know what really is the reason why Health Secretary Manuel Dayrit and his Department of Health don't promote the use of contraceptive in Family planning, just as what has been reported: Health Secretary Manuel Dayrit said in a statement that “we don’t promote it as a regular type of contraceptive,” despite condoms’ effectiveness in preventing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS. The health department, which coordinates with the country’s population-control program, limits itself to presenting married couples with options while promoting “natural family planning” without the use of contraceptives. ( Manila Times ) Is it because he is a Catholic and the Catholic church prohibits the use of contraceptive? or is because of this reason: The church, which disallows the use of contraceptives, is known to campaign against officials who promote their use. Hacienda workers' strike

It was a long time since the protest made by the workers of the Hacienda Luisita started on November 6, 2004. And on November 16, 2004 when the policemen dispersed the striking workers, 7 people were killed. As of Saturday, January 22, 2005, there are 700 to 900 people joined the protest and warned the police that they will armed themselves if policement will disperse them. TARLAC CITY, Tarlac, Philippines -- Residents of villages covering Hacienda Luisita have threatened to arm themselves if policemen disperse the workers and residents picketing the Cojuangco family-owned sugar mill inside the estate. "We will arm ourselves to protect our rights," resident Leony Halili, 65, told participants of a protest rally in front of the city hall here on Wednesday. ( source )

First Philippine Republic 106th Anniversary

Today, we observe the 106th anniversary of the First Philippine Rebpublic. President Emilio F. Aguinaldo’s proclamation on January 23, 1899 establishing the Filipino Republic in Malolos, Bulacan, was the capstone of the Filipino people’s unrelenting struggle to cast off the colonial yoke and recover their freedom lost in 1571. January 23, 1899, is a historic date not only in the Philippines but also in Asia. The Filipino Republic set up on this date had the distinction of being the first republic in Asia and the Filipino people the first people to set up their own government free from foreign domination. This event also gave the peoples of colonial Asia a beacon of hope that someday they, too, would be free from foreign dominance. ( source )
