Philippines To Give Higher Pay To Doctors, Nurses
In an effort to arrest the continuing exodus of Filipino medical workers going abroad to seek "greener pastures," the Philippine government announced on Sunday it will spend an average $871 million per year in the next four years to boost the salary scale of government doctors, nurses and teachers.
In a statement, the Department of Budget and Management said the government is allocating an increase of $20 million for personal services in 2007, $62.1 million in 2008, $106.4 million in 2009, and $145 million in 2010. Read More
