Saudi charities in Indonesia, Philippines tied to terrorist funding

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has designated the Philippine and Indonesian branch offices of the Saudi Arabia-based International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) as entities that have assisted the fund-raising efforts of al-Qaida and related terrorist groups, according to the US Embassy here on Monday.

In its E-mail statement, the Embassy said that the department`s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI) also designated Abd Al Hamid Sulaiman Al-Mujil, executive director of the Eastern Province Branch of IIRO in Saudi Arabia, as a terrorist financier. Read More
